SMS back to my phone

Nathan Nemmers Feb 06, 2018 07:42AM CST

So how do I get those text messages that I’ve either exported from an old iPhone or from a backup back into my new iPhone.

I know I can get these by just installing from a backup but I’m saying the only info from a backup I want is the text messages but nothing else.

This happens a lot to iPhone users. Something happens to their phone where it’s somehow corrupted or some aspect is not working. It’s recommended then not to restore from a backup bc you might get the same problem. We have solutions for getting photos and anything in the cloud back to our devices so that they can relive back on a new device but we do not have this for our text messages.

Bottom Line. It’s great that I can save them and have them available but how do I get them back to my phone wi their original threads.

That’s the app someone needs to develop.

iExplorer is great for backing up your text messages to your computer for archiving, but the Messages section is read-only which means you won’t be able to transfer any of your text messages back to the Messages app on a device. As you mention knowing about, you would need to restore the entire iTunes backup due to the way that Apple designed it unfortunately. The article below explains more:
