Message export from the Cloud

Aaron Stamboulieh Jun 02, 2018 07:24AM CDT

In iOS 11.4, messages can be stored in iCloud. If this is enabled, can iExplorer still export messages? If not, what is the best way to do so?

Yes, even if you enable Messages on iCloud, you will still be able to use iExplorer to transfer your messages from your iPhone to your computer. As long as you can view your messages on your iPhone, iExplorer will be able to display and transfer them.

I have found that images in messages are replaced with a grey outline of a file with a question mark when this new iOS feature is enabled and the messages are exported to PDF. The order of the messages is also completely messed up.

Also finding with the iCloud Photo Library enabled that I can no longer download/export images. They are shown greyed out/ghosted and when trying to export them I get the error message "File name cannot be null. Parameter name: sourceFileName.

Seems like iExplorer isn't really compatible with the new cloud stuff.
